Learning objectives:



  • Recognize the clinical and anatomical challenges of furcation involvement in periodontal disease and understand how these factors influence prognosis and tooth survival.

  • Evaluate current and past treatment modalities for furcation-involved teeth, including their advantages, limitations, and outcomes based on existing evidence.

  • Discuss emerging and future treatment concepts—such as regenerative techniques, biomaterials, and multidisciplinary approaches—and their potential impact on clinical practice.

  • Develop critical decision-making skills in case selection by integrating advanced diagnostics, patient-related factors, and specialist consultation to optimize treatment outcomes.
