At the Osteology Research Academy in Vienna, 13 participants from 10 countries joined experts Reinhard Gruber, Stefan Tangl, Barbara Schädl, and Markus Hartmann for an immersive experience in advanced histological techniques.🔬

Day 1 kicked off with a comprehensive introduction to hard and soft tissue processing, quantitative imaging, and hands-on workshops in small groups covering:

▫️ Cutting and grinding of hard tissue specimens
▫️ Paraffin sectioning of soft tissue specimens
▫️ Virtual microscopy and micro-CT
▫️ Quantitative backscattered electron imaging for bone mineral density analysis

Day 2 featured biomaterial research and histomorphometry led by Reinhard Gruber and Carina Kampleitner, with Patrick Heimel on micro-CT applications in research. Lab sessions deepened insights, and the day wrapped up with a cozy Viennese vineyard dinner. 🍇🍽️

Day 3 explored future-oriented techniques like single-cell RNA sequencing and topics (tooth development and preclinical models) related to oral tissue regeneration. Participants got inspired for their own research projects.✨

Missed it? Don’t worry! We have three upcoming Research Academy courses in 2025 with open seats:
🌏Clinical translation of advanced technologies - Singapore
🧪 Run a clinical and preclinical research study – Lucerne

🎉 NOG USA Shines at AAP Annual Meeting in San Diego!

On 31 October 2024, the National Osteology Group (NOG) USA celebrated its first anniversary during the 110th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology.

🌟 Highlight Session: "The Art and Science of Regeneration". Six talented young clinicians, chosen from 86 exceptional cases, competed in the final round of NOG USA’s first case competition. The competition featured:
