A 360-degree view on oral tissue regeneration was presented on 9–10 May at the National Osteology Symposium in Düsseldorf. The main programme featured lectures and recorded live surgeries, while hands-on workshops and — for the first time — a dedicated programme for dental hygienists were integral parts of the event. An industry exhibition complemented the sold-out symposium, which was chaired by Ausra Ramanauskaite and Eik Schiegnitz.

Both classical topics — such as alveolar ridge preservation and periodontal regeneration — and forward-looking subjects like the biofunctionalisation of materials, autologous platelet concentrates, and customised resorbable or non-resorbable titanium meshes were covered.
Periodontal regeneration and bone reconstruction using patient-specific meshes were showcased through recorded live surgeries presented in an engaging and accessible way.

Lectures in the "battle of concepts" format — comparing techniques such as the shell versus tent pole approach, or autologous soft tissue versus collagen-based substitutes — provided an excellent foundation for in-depth discussion.
The role of prosthetic restorations in soft tissue management rounded off the scientific programme.

The National Osteology Symposium Düsseldorf took place at the Rheinriff, a former steel plant turned into an event location. Symposium participants had the chance to try surfing on a standing wave, play beach volleyball or simply enjoy the beachy atmosphere with deckchairs.

A big thank you to our corporate partner Geistlich Deutschland and all industry partners for helping make this event such a success.
