Osteology Research Academy - The Art and Science of Clinical Trials

The provision of evidence-based clinical treatment is essential for the achievement of safe, effective, and predictable clinical outcomes. High-level scientific evidence provides the basis for deciding on appropriate treatment options. Well-designed and performed clinical trials play a significant role in providing the necessary evidence.

The Osteology Foundation, in association with dental experts from around the world, has created the Osteology Research Academy. This format delivers continuous education for early-career clinicians and researchers to improve their research skills and build a strong scientific network.

Educational Objectives

The Osteology Research Academy module will discuss the importance of clinical research and the key principles in designing, performing, and evaluating clinical research in the field of oral regeneration. Understanding these principles is important not only for clinicians involved in academia and research-based practice, but also for the broader profession in enabling better understanding and interpretation of the scientific literature arising from this research.

Professors Ronald E. Jung and Ryan Lee will offer their years of experience and expertise in the field of clinical research. Many pitfalls and issues relating to clinical trials can be prevented by careful consideration prior to trial commencement. The 180-minute module will also include a 30-minute Q&A-style round table discussion to answer questions that can be pre-submitted by participants. In this way, many of these issues and pitfalls can be addressed.
