Maurizio S. Tonetti

With a distinguished academic and clinical career, he holds a DMD from Genova, Italy, a PhD from Berne, Switzerland, and an MMSc from Harvard, USA. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Currently, he is Chair Professor and founding Dean/Director of the Integrated Institute for Oral, Craniofacial, and Sensory Health Research, Ninth People’s Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also Executive Director of the European Research Group on Periodontology and editor Emeritus of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Former tenured professor and head of periodontology and implant dentistry, University of Hong Kong, University of Connecticut Health Science Center, University College London.

Clinical practice limited to Periodontology and implant surgery with emphasis on regeneration, minimally invasive surgery, and microsurgery.

He is a strategic clinical scientist focusing on periodontal health. With an H-factor of 113, his scientific work has been cited more than 56,000 times and featured in many global press and television news outlets. He has been engaged worldwide in the planning and delivery of advanced educational programs in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry.
