Christoph Hammerle is the Chairman of the Clinic of Reconstructive Dentistry, Center of Dental Medicine, University of Zurich, Switzerland. He is certified in prosthodontics and periodontics and holds a specialist degree in implant dentistry of the Swiss Society of Odontology. He's clinical focus is on the comprehensive treatment of complex, partially edentulous patients applying all available options of reconstructive dentistry including dental implants. His main scientific interests encompass biological and technological aspects of fixed reconstructions on teeth and implants as part of the overall restorative treatment concept. Specific areas include hard and soft tissue augmentation, imaging techniques, computer aided planning and execution of treatment, clinical application and processing aspects of ceramics, composits and hybrid materials. 
Christoph Hammerle is or has been a member of various scientific organizations. Board Member of the Swiss Society for Reconstructive Dentistry, Chairman of the Committee for Specialization in Reconstructive Dentistry in Switzerland, Past President of the Osteology Foundation, Past President of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), Board Member of the Continental European Division of the IADR (CED), President of the Dental Campus Association. He has served on the organizing committees of several national and international conferences including: Swiss Society of Periodontology, EAO Annual Congresses, EAO Consensus Conferences, Workshops of the European Federation of Periodontology and the Osteology Foundation.
He has received an honorary doctor from the University of Athens, Greece, honorary memberships of the European Association for Osseointegration and the Osteology Foundation, and the Jerome M. and Dorothy Schweitzer Research Award of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He has published more than 350 scientific and clinical articles and holds an H-factor of 83 (Scopus). He has lectured widely internationally.
