Prof. Dr. Kathrin Becker is Director of the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She studied both dentistry and computer science at the Universities of Greifswald and Göttingen, completing a Master of Science in Computer Science with distinction. She earned her doctorate in 2014 at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, where she also completed her specialist training in orthodontics and, in 2019, obtained her habilitation in Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine. After holding a W2 Professorship in Translational Orthodontics at the University of Erlangen, she was appointed to the W3 Professorship for Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Charité in 2023.


Kathrin Becker is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Clinical and Experimental Dental Research, Section Editor of the Journal of Orofacial Orthopaedics, and Co-Editor of Informationen aus Orthodontie & Kieferorthopädie. In addition, she serves on the editorial boards of Clinical Oral Investigations, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and Clinical Oral Implants Research, and contributes to several international expert councils and research committees.

Her research focuses on digital orthodontics, aligner therapy, skeletal anchorage, radiation protection in dental radiology, force-related bone remodeling and angiogenesis, and computer-assisted 3D imaging analysis. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications in these fields and has an h-index of 25..
